SUMMARY:Shoe Drive HC Youth Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Shoe us the love! Donate gently used or new shoes to help fund HC Youth for the 2028 Youth Gathering and other youth events. HC Youth will receive funds for donated shoes\, which will be shipped to micro-enterprises in developing countries where they help small business owners (many of whom are women) build better lives. The steps we take in collecting shoes have a greater impact by raising funds locally\, keeping shoes out of landfills\, and improving livelihoods in global communities. The Rishmawi Family has been designated as the representative for these wonderful Christian artisans. The tradition of Olive wood carvings in the Holy Land has been handed down from father to son since the 12th century. Due to the difficulties the last few years in the Middle East\, tourism has been dramatically reduced and these folks have suffered greatly.  This is causing the Christian community to immigrate to different countries\, leaving the Christian population at 2% today from 25% fifteen years ago. \nWe invite you to visit their display tables and view some of the finest handcrafts available from the Holy Land. Refreshments will be served at 8am on Saturday morning.  The topic of the event is The Christ Key: Unlocking the Mystery of Jesus in the Old Testament.  \n\nWe might picture the Old Testament as a vast mansion with many rooms: the creation room; the exodus room; the tabernacle\, angel\, and war rooms. The key to unlock each of these\, and fully understand what God is showing us in them\, is Jesus the Messiah. We will take a tour of this Hebrew mansion and see how\, in various ways\, Jesus is mysteriously present in the life of ancient Israel. We will see him appearing under the guise of “the angel of the Lord.” He will give us pencil sketches of himself in men such as Melchizedek and David. He will reveal his mission of sacrifice in the architecture of the temple. The Christ key is God’s chosen means of unlocking the Old Testament for us. \nChad Bird has served as a pastor\, professor\, and guest lecturer in Old Testament theology and Hebrew.
